The FSE tests They are selective tests to access the positions of Specialized Health Training (FSE)The annual call for FSE tests is published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) and is open to people who have completed studies in medicine, pharmacy, chemistry, biology, biochemistry, psychology, physics and nursing.
This system is a professional-centred learning process, in which a scheduled, supervised and paid clinical practice allows the professional to progressively assume responsibilities as the training process progresses. This is achieved through a link between the Health Service and the professional in training. The duration of the specialised training in health will depend on the speciality chosen from the bachelor's or degree course completed, as well as the duration of the programmes in each speciality.
Structure of FSE tests and calculation of grades
The number of questions in the FSE tests may vary annually as decreed by the Ministry of Health. Generally, the tests have a high number of questions: around 200, with 4 multiple choice answers each and only 1 correct answer.
In these tests, each correct answer is worth 3 points and each incorrect answer subtracts 1 point. To be eligible for a place, participants must have obtained at least 25% of the top ten scores. This means that the minimum required score has been reduced from 35% to 25%. This measure has been implemented by the Department of Health to prevent places from being left unfilled. If the cut-off score is not reached, it will be marked in the results as “Eliminated”.
