What is a student visa in Spain?

What are the requirements to apply for a student visa in Spain?

Citizenship. If you are a citizen of a country that is not part of the European Union, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, you will have to apply for a student visa.
Legal situation. It is necessary to be in a legal situation in Spain and not have any restrictions to enter the country.
Criminal record. You must present a certificate proving that you have no criminal record in your country of origin.
Economic resources. It must be demonstrated that you have sufficient financial resources to remain in Spain during the study period. Normally, a minimum of 100% of the monthly IPREM (Multiple Effects Public Income Indicator) is required, equivalent to about €600 per month.
Medical coverage (you can contract this service with LegalSpain). It is essential to have a medical certificate indicating that you do not suffer from serious illnesses for public health. In addition, you must have medical insurance with an insurance company operating in Spain.
Acceptance into the study program (this process can be managed with LegalSpain). It is essential to have been admitted to the course, program or university where you plan to study in Spain. The educational institution must provide a letter of acceptance.
Airline tickets. For short-term studies, round-trip air tickets must be included in the application.
Recognition of titles (this procedure can be done by LegalSpain). If you wish to pursue higher education, such as master's degrees or postgraduate degrees, it may be necessary to present the homologation or validation of the university degree obtained in the country of origin.
